The mandate of the Diabetes Programme Windsor-Essex (DPWE) is to increase awareness about type 2 diabetes, promote health, prevent disease and enhance quality of life for the residents of Windsor and Essex County.Our team consists of Registered Nurses and Registered Dietitians, some of whom are Certified Diabetes Educators, plus administrative staff.

We work to educate, inform, support and motivate adults, families, and friends in Windsor and Essex County living with type 2 diabetes, or who want to know more about this disease.

We Offer:

• Meals, Meds and Monitoring - Diabetes Self-Management Classes
• Post-Gestational Diabetes Classes
• Learning Modules
  • Once a client has completed one of the above sets of classes, they can attend modules on the following topics:
    • Label Reading
    • Carbohydrate Counting
    • Foot Care
    • Stress Management
    • Meal Planning
    • Restaurant Dining
• Insulin Pen Teaching [ Referral Form ] (required)
• Children in Your Care School Program - educating teachers about students with diabetes
• Health fairs and special events
• In-services for (allied) health professionals
• Speaking engagements
• Monthly Support Group
