The Diabetes Programme Windsor Essex is staffed with registered nurses and registered dietitians. Many of the staff are certified diabetes educators. In order to qualify to write the examination for initial Certification applicants must be:

1. Registered with a regulatory body in Canada as a health professional
2. Worked at least 800 hours in diabetes education within a period of three years before applying to write the exam and be a registered member of a health care professional body
